need help with printer network, pc to mac

Here is what I have. Windows XP Pro that has 1 Samsung ML-1740 and 1 Samsung CLP-510 Printer hooked up with USB to my computer. Have both printers setup to Share and can share them with all other Windows XP Computers that I have hooked up Wired to a Linksys Router and a Laptop with XP hooked up wireless with a Linksys Wireless GS Router all can share file and print! Now I just got a MacBook and have never used a Mac before. I have it setup so I can get on the InterNet Wireless but I can`t get the printers to work, HELP!!! Can someone tell me step by step how to get this to work? I have read articals on things to download to be able to do this but I just don`t understand, Like I said I have never used a Mac before! First you may need to download the latest drivers for osx, check the version on your mac, click on the apple on top lefthand corner, on the dropdown list, select about this mac, it should tell you what version of osx it is 10.x.x. Download the drivers from the printer website, if it has any..if not then the printer is not supported by the samsung.

You need to share the printers in XP and then setup the printers in OSX via IPP (app\utils\printers\).

Note your XP pc has to be switch on for the printing to work.

Mac OS is 10.4.7 and everythink is set for print sharing on the XP system. Can print with all Windows systems but NOT the MacBook

For nearly ANY non-postscript printer, you need CUPS drivers to print via the standard network protocols, because the protocols are part of the CUPS system. The drivers most manufacturers provide are Carbon drivers, which bypass the CUPS protocols.
(Postscript is a different situation, because all output on Macs starts out as postscript/PDF.)
Short version: OS X drivers provided by all manufacturers, except Brother, are written for USB ONLY.**

** There are exceptions - eg: If the printer has ethernet built-in, then the driver probably has network capability.
