Thumbs up Bluetooth DUN Issue

I got my Treo 700p working with Verizon. I have a Mac Book Pro 15" running 10.4.9.

Then, it stopped working. I would get "A modem error occurred. Please verify your settings and try again" while it was trying to connect and then it would disconnect.

I discovered that this sequence fixed my problem:

Open Bluetooth Preferences. Pick Devices in the top three buttons. Under Bluetooth Devices, pick the device "Palm" in my case. Now, on the right side, most of the buttons light up (get enabled). Pick "Edit Serial Ports..." A drop down window is shown. In the top pane I have only one entry which is checked and selected. In the bottom pane, for Port Type, mine (non-working) setting was set to rs232. I switched it to Modem and now it seems to work.
