    Networking 2 g3's and a g4

At work we have a g4 350 running 10.3.9 and two g3's , 1 with 8.6 and 1 with 9.2.2 . The g4 is "new" to the equation . At the moment the 2 g3's and a really old laserwriter 11nt are connected via appletalk . The g4 does not have the connections to join this . I assume that we will have to go over to ethernet . The question is how to do this and still be able to use the printer ?

The trick for file sharing is that in the File Sharing Control Panel (OS 9 and maybe OS 8.6), you must enable "allow users to connect using TCP/IP." And when connecting from OS 8 or 9, you should connect to 10.3.9 by entering the "Server IP address" of the 10.3 computer into that space in Chooser, and not expect it to work via appletalk.

To share the printer, install and turn on Apple's Control panel "Localtalk Bridge." I think this comes with 8.6 but may not be installed in the System Folder.
