MacBook first boot crashed network

I just received a new macbook the other day. We have had a wireless network setup for quite some time with three pc's running just fine off of it. MAC filtering is enabled. Upon first booting the macbook, I added the new Mac address to the filter list and it connected to the internet long enough to access my apple account information. As soon as I confirmed the information and it went through its initial setup, the network crashed. We removed the macbook from the MAC filter list and reset everything so that the pc's are connecting fine again.

The router is a linksys G that is a couple years old. Does anyone know what would have caused it and how I can connect without crashing it again. It was suggested I update the firmware on the router and I will do that in a few minutes. Someone also mentioned turning Apple Talk off, but it was never enabled.

Any information you all can provide would be much appreciated.

Well, in case anyone else was having the same problem, I did get the network up and running ok. We have a Linksys WRT54G that simply needed a firmware upgrade. I had read where several other people had this same issue. Its a good thing it worked because I would have had no idea what to try next. Apparently the newest firmware just came out three weeks or so ago. If I had made this purchase earlier I may have been up a creek for a while.
