Using Ethernet Bridge - no connectivity

I am trying to use Bridged Ethernet because I read that the default Sharing setting does not allow the remote network station (in my case a laptop PC) to see the host files. I want my laptop to be able to access the files in my Parallels XP installation.

The shared internet works fine on the laptop, but I cannot see any shared files, in either direction. I have turned off all firewalls, but still no luck.

Any suggestions where to look for answers in my setup?

How is your network setup? Please list machines in the order from which your internal network is setup. This way we can get a better understanding of your problem.

I finally figured it out. Searching for the computer (and the printer) by name from the laptop turned out to be the key.
Thanks for the help.
