Using PC to access files from a MAC G5

I am trying to access files from a MAC G5 (G5 Server), we have a multi user license for Quickbooks, and need to be able to allow access from other systems inside and outside (remote access) of the office to the main files stored in the G5.

When I try access the server remotely on my MAC PowerBook G4 Laptop, everything works great. I just enter the IP (static), press connect, enter my username and password and connect.

I have tried setting this up in My Network places on my PC … but cannot get this to work, I receive the message “windows requires a share to publish to, please try another location”.. There is not a specific share, or shared folder. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sandy
