D-link DSL-502T via usb detected as modem :S

Hi..

I recently switched to mac ( OS X 10.5.3 ) and i wanted to try how my old router DSL-502T works. So today i connected it via USB interface and its getting detected as a Apple modem in network preferrences app. For some reason i can`t connect it via ethernet, so I am stuck with the usb.

Is there any way i could get online with this router ?
Has someone tried those $7+ cheap usb ethernet cards available on ebay ?
