DHCP not working

My daughter has had a Macbook that has been great, but she came by my house and was connected to my linksys wireless network and everything was OK. But something happened and she couldn't connect using wireless. It looks like DHCP failed. It was coming up with a 169.254. x IP which isn't in the correct range of the Linksys 192.168.1.x. I thought it mighrt just be something strange here in my network, but now whne she went home, she can't connect inher own environment. It looks like DHCP isn't working and I don't know enough about MAC OS to be able to help. It looks like the TCIP network configuration is broken, buyt I don't know how to reset or walk through specific configurations to get it back to the standard configuration that she had that worked so well. Any help would be greatly appreciated we are outside the time window of help from Apple support.
