iPhone & MobileMe problem

I've got a MacBookPro from the current range. Recently I also bought an new iMac. Rather than do a fresh install I went for the startup option of copying data from the laptop to the iMac.

It's seemed to screw up the mobile me settings for the laptop.
When I click through: System Preferences > MobileMe > Account, on my laptop, I get the following error:

Accout Status - An error was returned from the sever. Please try again later.
(It's been like that for a month!! How much later should I leave it?)

When I click through: System Preferences > MobileMe > Sync > Advanced, I don't see any registered computers, nor can I register this computer.

The iMac is fine, and I can see that there are 3 registered computers (including my machine @ work).

My question is, how can I reset evrything and start over without having to reinstall?

Thanks in advance

PS. I'm not sure if this is in the right forum or if it should be hardware or OS. Sorry if it's in the wrong place!!

Check to see how the firewall is set up on the affected Mac.

Obviously this isn't the issue seeing that your iMac works, but I've had a lot of issues with MobileMe due to my third party firewall, even with all ports configured correctly. Maybe check that you don't have port forwarding to you iMac on your router/firewall.

Well keep in mind the Apple article "Well known" TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products if you are using either a firewall or router with a built in firewall.
