Printing to a shared windows printer

I'm trying to connect to my windows shared printer on the network. I've tried smb://userassword@servername/printername and smb://servername/printername. I've got OS 10.5.8. I believe I've got it set up correctly but I keep getting "Unable to connect to CIFS host, will retry in 60 seconds..."

What am I missing? Please help and TIA.

Is your user or Mac joined in AD?
What shows in Console when smb printing fails?

No, it's not on the domian. So, what I tried creating a local account on the Windows server side and used that to authenticate. But, it doesn't seem to be working.

When I try to print after mounting the shared printer through SMB, I get this, "Unable to connect to CIFS host, will retry in 60 seconds..." error message.

Instead of servername, use IP address.
