What are some ways to unify a high school in terms of computer networking?

I have a few ideas, e.g. installing a network drive to be accessed throughout all computers to share files amongst each other and have a server up and running for the lab workstations but I still have ways to go with the staff workstations where they are still unrestricted in many aspects and are not connected to a domain.

A Mac Mini Server will do all this easily. Plus using something like an Drobo USB connected to the server would be a great backup/file server.
