15" Al PB - G not seeing B network?

So... my Pismo has been a good road dog for four years now, but
its failing health necessitated the purchase of a new PB.
Opted for the new Al 15".

I am having no luck connecting to the 802.11b network in the house.
I am using a Linksys BEFW11S4, but the gosh darn G card
isnt seeing the network. I thought these things were backwards compatible!

Has anyone else run across this? G not seeing a B network?

The most common problem when using an airport card with a non-apple base station is getting the WEP password wrong. Turn off WEP and try connecting, for troubleshooting.

WEP is not enabled.

i guess i need to be more specific. Pismo can see it fine. the SSID shows up under the AirPort tab in the System Prefs > Network panel. AL PB does NOT show the SSID under the AirPort tab in the System Prefs > Network panel.

never mind. i'm an idiot. i couldnt see the SSID on the AL PB because i turned off the broadcast SSID in the access point.
