Hi, I am new here and need some help. I am trying to get an imac running OS X to print to a HP Deskjet 970cxi and Laserjet 4V. Both have a Hawking HPS1P Print Server attached and are configured with IP's in the 192.168.1.x range. The Windows machines can print fine to it with the supplied software but the mac can't. I have installed Gimp-Print and attempted to use it but to no avail. I have tried IP Printing with the queue set to "lp" as well. I downloaded the mac drivers from HP and installed those hoping to use the Postscript ones, but still no effect. I don't work with macs as a rule so I am not that familiar with their config. I believe I simply don't have the settings correct and would like to know if anybody could give a quick rundown of what I would need to configure and possible syntax (for Terminal, etc. if required). If you need more info please let me know. Thanks.

When you say you installed Gimp-Print, did you install ghostscript too, and what version of Gimp-Print did you install (4.3.x versions are pre-beta and don't generally work) I actually recommend the ghostscript/hpijs driver combination: http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/ (the .dmg files, not source) I can't find documentation on the Hawking server. Is lp what they say to use for the queue name? Does it support other comm protocols like App/Socket? Have you tried pinging the servers' IP addresses to be sure the network connection is good?

I found some info on the Hawking Server - lpt1 is the name of the print queue. IP printing is the right mode for OS X clients. I still recommend the hpijs/ghostscript drivers. Good luck.
