    Active Directory Woes in Panther!!!

    Using Win 2003 Server...

I can not for the life of me get the domain to bind.. It keeps saying it can't find a domain controller when I try to join..

Do i need like .local at the end, or what???

how do i find the distinguished name that the name apparently needs to be in AD on OSX?

Ok, no offense, but just so we know it isn't on of the basic things... is "Active Directory" enabled (checked) on the "Services" tab of the "Directory Access" program (in the Utilities folder)?

Here is a link I found about how to set up Active Directory on Mac OS X, if it might help:

    http://www.bombich.com/mactips/activedir.html

Also, here is one specifically for Panther (10.3):

Yeah I made sure it's checked. It just seems that for whatever reason.. it can't find the AD DC.

I'm not sure if I have DNS set up wrong on my mac or what but it's driving me crazy...

    Ok,

a little progress.. because of Active Directory/Rendezvous troubles with .local domains I've used the script on this KBase article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107800

I can get so far as seeing the domain, but I get the error "Unable to access domain controller"

This computer is unable to access the domain controller for an unknown reason.

I'm not outright sure why this is happening, it may be that one my coworkers got angry and took away my joining/administration rights.. but that will be fixed shortly...
