Okay this is sort of a rant/message to Apple that I noticed a major reason Mac OS X 10.1, and I'm pretty sure 10.2 - are slower in noticable parts of windows overall. Window resizing is alot slower on OS X than XP, if you were to draw parts of the window that need displaying instead of the entire window, there would definitely be a 4-5 times speed improvement. Again, in case someone didnt understand me, when you resize a window, the entire window is being redrawn. Instead of redrawing the entire window, just redraw the parts that need it. Window resizing might even be faster than XP. As proof, you G3 owners out there, try resizing you window very small and then very large. You'll quickly notice that when the window is very large, resizing is much much slower. Just my thoughts.
