| I just wonder if it's really THAT hard for Apple to release Mpeg 2 (I know you can buy it, but it should be free), Mpeg 1, WMV, and DIVX support for Quicktime. Seriously, how long would that take them? The technology has already existed in the Windows world for 5 or more years. Couldn't they just have "Tim" spend a day and make Quicktime compatible with all those formats?

| WMV is and will stay 100% MS-controlled. DIVX is a strange thing. The DIVX codecs are legion. DIVX files are full of errors. Many DIVX files come with missing frames, with sound delay, etc. (just like MP3 encoded on PC used to a few years ago). I don't understand why 99% DIVX plays fine on PC and 50% on Mac. I don't.

| DivX is weird. Even on windows it can be a bit random. I've noticed some improvements with QT4 though, and especially since I discovered VideoLan. The most annoying thing about DivX on Mac is the sound problems and having to convert files for QT. I'm glad I've found an app that actually seems to play stuff straight off. |
