iTunes & Billboard

I was just wondering if something should happen. The new iTunes Music Store's purchased songs (singles & whole albums) should be included with Billboards Single/Album charts (American now and World when international buyers can get the service).

<Start of Rant>

I say this because with the demise of purchased music singles (at least in the USA). So how does Billboard determine music single popularity? Do they do it from the radio plays that the Record companies mostly own? Maybe they are picked out of thin air by faceless record company people.
