Thank you so much for all the info everyone has provided me! Ive managed to move Firefix where I want it - my applications folder and trashed the junk from my desktop.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Such a simple thing, made simpler by the help of everyone here.

I'll have to get reading some other threads as it looks like there's a lot of good info in here.

Hi, thanks, I finally got rid of those icons. Is it possible to hide the Macintosh HD icon?

Click on Finder. Then go to Preferences (click the Finder menu).

I just have a "stuff to sort" folder on my desktop and every few weeks i sort through it
