Using Virtual PC to run 3D Studio Max on OSX?

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum, and a recent convert to the OSX platform. It's unfortunite that my favorite 3D modeling program is only written to run on a wintel machine. Does anybody have experience running 3D Studio Max using Virtual PC on an OSX machine? I'm curious how well it runs, and if this will allow me to dump my wintel machine completely? I use a G5 at work on a daily basis, but still deciding on a G4 powerbook or a Macbook Pro for my myself.

Thanks,
Chris

Running 3D software in emulation is just not that good an idea. While it _might_ even run, you'd probably get no work done at all, because of the slow speed.

I'd look at the option of getting a MacBook Pro, once they get Windows to boot on it or they get good virtual machine thingie running or VPC. Since there the processor hasn't got to be emulated, this would be much better.

You might also want to check out some of the alternatives to 3DSM that the Mac platform offers (e.g. Maya, Cinema 4D, etc.).
