| Let's put it like this: 1.) Yes, the Finder is flawed. Ever since OS X, it's not been the same as in earlier versions. They should fix it, and I'm pretty sure they will, but right now, it's as it is. 2.) The permissions thing is a drag. Nothing else to say there. It just shouldn't _be_ that Apple's users have to do the "repair permissions" thing ever so often, and *if* the system needs a regular check/repair of the permissions, then the system should do it. So: I have to definitely _agree_ to the _content_ of your message. However: I also have to agree with the other users in this thread. DON'T be a troll. I understand that switching to a different OS can be a difficult task. The older you are (and 15 years of Windows "experience" makes me assume you're not in your teens anymore), the more difficult it gets. Flexibility is a thing of youth, although it helps in life if you try to _stay_ flexible in your mind and body.

| I seem to have the same problem with permissions... I keep on repairing the same permissions on and on... I dont even have to restart the system, and permissions dont get fixed despite Disk Utility saying it repaired them. I even tried running Disk Utility from CD, but same thing happens. For example: We are using special permissions for the file or directory ./Applications/DVD Player.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/AboutBox.nib/objects.xib. New permissions are 33204 and, then, after repair i try "Repair Permissions" again and get: We are using special permissions for the file or directory ./Applications/DVD Player.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/AboutBox.nib/objects.xib. New permissions are 33204 Since it already assigned new permissions on the previous step, why does it do it again? Please help! |

| Don't worry about any special permissions messages. It doesn't mean that the permissions aren't fixed, just that for whatever reason, Apple needs/wants to use non standard permissions on that file. The only ones that are actually being fixed are ones that say so.
