editing audio files with Mac

I need software that would allow me to crop an audio file. New to mac and having trouble finding software.

Try Audacity. Freeware and works a treat. Just type thw word into Google

Seconded here. Cross platform too, so if you change (surely not?!) your computer or end up working on someone elses, you can use the software you're used to.

The other nice thing about it is that Audacity takes plugins for various effects.

Another nice thing (which I should've put in my earlier post) is that Audacity is Open Source, and therefore free (as in beer and speech), which is always a good thing!

It does require a plug in to create mp3 files, but that is freely and easily available as well. When you try to use the mp3 function the programme tells you what to do to get the plug in.
