You can't open or use .exe files on a Mac. You need the download in .dmg format, preferably.
.exe files only work in Windows.
Hi!
I'm using my new MacBook and have the following problem which I'm sure is quite simply fixed:
I am a bit of a dumbo when it comes to this, but recently I opted to open a .exe file with QuickTime Player - I don't know why - but now every .exe file I open tries to open with QuickTime Player - for examply, I just tried to download MSN Messenger and Google Talk, and whenever I click on the .exe icon on my desktop, it just comes up with this message:
"Error opening movie. The movie could not be opened."
Obviously I just want it to Open with something else (ie not QuickTime) but I don't know what you are supposed to open .exe files with to get them to do their thing.
Any helpers?

You can only run Windows programs in Windows either by using BootCamp to install Windows on a separate hard drive partition or using Parallels to run Windows inside OS X.
