| may be switching I am considering a switch to mac from windows, but the only problem is that I am a gamer. I could use bootcamp to run windows for gaming and regular mac for everythign else, but the only thing holding me back is directx10. has apple made an announcement for when they may be integrating directx10 cards into their macbooks (pro's) in place of x1600's? | The only time I would think this would happen would be sometime late next year of not this January during the MacWorld Expo. Remember also that there are Macintosh versions of many of the popular games out there, so for those you can run them in OS X. As for any other games, you could just run them from Windows using Boot Camp. If you REALLY need something beefier than that, I would probably suggest just getting a gaming laptop (of course, that would keep you from using OS X) to suit your gaming needs. At this point, it's something you're going to have to weigh for yourself as to which is more important: laptop gaming or use of OS X. Hope this helps.

| I don't think they "directly" care about DirectX support, since that doesn't exist for Mac OS X. So you won't hear about DirectX 10 support from Apple, anyway. But newer versions of the MacBook Pro will, eventually, get newer graphics cards that _might_ have the support you need.

| I wouldn't do *anything* Mac-related this week, anyway, as MacWorld is just a week away, and there's always something there we didn't see coming.
