Setting up a Mac to print on Linksys Printserver

I was wondering is it is possible to use my current network set up with my new iMac? I have a print sever set up to run our printer but everyone else has a PC. When I installed the print server it came with a disk to install the new print port for the print server. As much as I can tell this sw does not support mac.

What would i need to do in order to be able to print over my wireless network?

As long as you can find a driver for your mac to that printer, you should be okay. What printer do you have on the network?

I currently have a hp deskjet932C, it's an older printer but I am planning on replacing it as soon as I can find a good photo All in one that will support both PC and Mac

Looks like there's a driver for 10.4 (Tiger) from 2005 so it's a bit old. Nothing for Leopard yet. If your iMac is on Tiger you're set:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...os=219&lang=en

If not, here's some hp printers that are Leopard compatible:
www4.hp.com/mac_connect/pdf/Mac_OS_launch_special.pdf

According to that pdf HP is putting out software for All in One printers (like yours) in December 2007 to update printers that aren't automatically included in Leopard. If your printer doesn't work now, it might work by the end of the month if you update your computer regularly.

Thanks I'll check out the new printers. My iMac is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow so I'm just trying to get everything lined up.. I'm a bit excited..

That link will not load.

Better link. Make sure you click the 'Please click here to check the current link...' link:

Ah, since your iMac is new you'll be on Leopard (unless you got it 'pre owned' he he). I'd imagine by the end of this month your printer will be supported, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

FINALLY! A solution!

Ok, I worked on this for hours and hours and hours!! I have a Linksys WPS54g, connected to it a PC desktop, many laptop pc's and FINALLY a macbook with OS Leopard. I tried everything here and could connect to the print server, but couldn't print. I found my solution somewhere along the way. Anyway, to those frustrated try this:

Go to this site and download the Ghostscript first, then the Foomatic, and then the hpijs file. Install all that from here:

http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/Op...g/MacOSX/hpijs

Then update the firmware on your wireless print server from the manufacturer, Linksys is: http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/...PS54G/download

after the install unplug the print server and restart computers. All should be great!!

Just to be clear the mac settings are:

stated by others previously, one of my problems was the last step in the location bar. I kept putting my actual server's name, but in fact you use the default name for the server not the name you give it. enter it in location as:

IP_LK652D7BP1

this is located on the status page of the print server page under default name, by the way this is the same page that you use to update the river you download from the manufacturer.

Feel free to email me if you need assistance and I will try my best to assist you!
