slideshow in iphoto

I am a switcher. I have had successful experiences using MSMovie Maker to display photos with music edited to go with the pictures.

I am attempting to do the same thing in iphoto. I have learned that only one selection of music from itunes will play. It will loop. I cannot add a second, third or fourth piece of music for a long slideshow.

I called tech support. They guided me to garage. I see how to put in one selection. I do not understand how to put an additional song in place. I also cannot see where the music lines up with the pictures.

Is this possible to do? Do I need a piece of software? Has any switcher done the slideshow to music successfully?

Thanks for any help. I am working on a rehearsal dinner show for my son. I have only two more months to get it done.

You have a few options. If you're just happy to have a sequence of songs played back-to-back, you could copy-paste the songs together in GarageBand, save that, and bring that into iPhoto.

Or, if you need a little more control, you could simply put the slideshow together without sound, export it to a video file and import that into iMovie, and then add the songs there - that way you'll be able to trim them to start and stop where-ever you like.

Or you can just start in iMovie! Drag the photos into your timeline, add transitions between them, and put as much music as you want in there. Note that you are limited to two audio tracks in iMovie, but you usually wouldn't have more than 2 songs playing simultaneously (overlapping, for example) anyway. If you want to layer songs together, use GarageBand for that, then export one simple track to iMovie.
