Opening the Terminal also opens Mail... why?

hello..

I'm a total newbie to Unix stuff but thought I'd try to learn a few very basic things during quiet periods at work.

Anyway.. On this imac here at work if I open the terminal, Mac Mail also starts automatically..

How do I stop this from happening?
