X windows problem

Hi folks,

Newbie on the forum, and newbie to Macs too, just got a macbook and i have to say i totally love it. got a few issues with OSX though, not loads that are too serious but one this very annoying.

I open an X session to a unix box... so "ssh -X server1", then i start an app, say xclock. Then i open a new terminal and run "ssh -X server2", and run a different app. xclock runs fine, until i open the second app. When i open the 2nd app i can no longer use the xclock i opened, if i try to use xclock its like the app is dead and crashed, until i close the 2nd app, at which point it springs back to life :-(

this is very annoying as i REALLY need to use multiple x windows apps from various servers.

any help at all i appreciated.

regards

Try some different programs, like xclock and xeys. I guess the second program notices that it is already running (even in another machine) and tries to share some stuff (fonts etc.)

yeah i have tried a few apps, we use sun sgd and veritas netback on different boxes, these apps give me this problem, as well as xclock. i agree, i definitely think that the second app steals resources. :-(
