apache 1.3.29 problems in panther

apache 1.3.29 installed fine from source under panther (no errors), but running apachectl isn't working. seems like its having problems loading modules from /usr/libexec/httpd

mod_log_config.so is the first one it can't load, but commenting out that line in httpd.conf it fails to load the next module from that directory.. anyone dealt with this issue?

i downloaded the binary and it seems to be working now..

so this is really frustrating.

the binary worked to the point where i can serve html, but it doesn't seem to install with enable_module=so, so i cannot install the php module. has anyone had luck installing these apps under panther?? i could use some direction
