Starting Fink installed Gnome in Apple's X11

Oh lordy! Another Fink problem, I have RTFM, what I could find that is, but I'm feeling old and blind...

So just how DO you get gnome to start up under X11, I can get KDE to do it with this in my .xinitrc file:

export KDEWM=/sw/bin/kwin <--No idea, something to do with initialising the KDE Window Manager
exec quartz-wm --only-proxy & <-- Sets Apple's X11 Quartz Window Manager into proxy mode, not the normal display mode
exec /sw/bin/startkde <-- Starts the KDE environment

but I can't seem to find how to get the same results with Gnome. All this compiled and installed using the ever groovy Fink, of course.

I'm embarrassed, I'm sure the answer is in something I've read...

I think, from memory, the command is exec /sw/bin/gnome-session. If that isn't it, you'll want to check the documentation from Gnome.
