I am trying to configure Apache/PHP/MySQL sofware in th terminal window. When i run "sudo apachectl graceful" i am asked for my admin password but when i attempt to type it just 'greys out' ...same thing happenps when i try and install MySQL "sudo chown -R mysql data.

Do you mean that nothing is entered when you type the password? That's the way it is supposed to be, archaic form of password protection I guess

I wish it was that easy, I typed the paassword and hit return and still got rejected.

Yeah, you have to be careful to type it correctly since there is no visual feedback. Good luck!
