I have also noticed progammes hanging more than before (especially Mail).
I have run DiskWarrior and that didn't report anything untoward.

Should I give up worrying about this and maybe join the Foreign Legion instead?

So, My buddy has a Powerbook G4. Its currently running leopard, His DVD drive doesn't ever read Verbatim DVD discs, And thats what we made our backup disc on. So were going to use Remote install, I can't find it anywhere on his computer, but besides that, it wont let us choose a start up disk as network setup, Even if we restart and hold option key, All that it shows is his current hard drive.. So is there a way to get it to start up as network... what am i doing wrong? Does his computer need to have a remote install app on his computer, and can we get the package off of the leopard disc??

Thanks for anyhelp

I have an IMAC running 10.3.9. I was told to drag my "User" folder to the External Drive to back it up. I've done this multiple times, and everytime some items that have strange characters cannot be backed up and interrupt the back up process. I then have to locate where it stopped and drag the remaining items manually, until it stops again for some other item, and I have to keep doing a manual back up until the end.

One of the items it most concerns me is that when it backs up Home folder>Library>Mail, it backs up all accounts but the main one (example: I have 4 different email accounts ending in @mindspring.com - The main user for this mindspring account (the "mother" of all) cannot be backed up because its folder in the Library of my Mac it is named as: POP/ncampos@mindspring.com and the character / cannot be backed up. The same happens with other items and I have to "skip" them in the back up

Once I modified this not knowing and erased all my mail! How can I back up and be sure I can reinstall my messages? I am in the process of upgrading to Tiger and don't want to lose all the info but want to do an "Upgrade" instead of Archiving. Please help!
Thanks

There are photos that have been deleted from the iPhoto data base but remain in ~/Pictures/iPhoto Library/...

There is no way to access these pictures using iPhoto. They can only be seen using Finder. They are complete files, both Original and Modified, and can be viewed though not in iPhoto.

I want to purge them. Is there a way to do garbage collection to clean up the iPhoto Library?

Or, since the iPhoto data base seems not to know anything about them, is it safe to delete them using the Finder?

Hello.
I'm having trouble with the AI working correctly with my Age of Empires 3 from Microsoft studios.
While loading any level/ scenario this error message pops up.
<00:00:00 (0):XS:ERROR 0003: could not compile file 'AILoaderstandard.xs'.>
The result in the gameplay is complete lack of computer opponent initiative. Of course this renders the game useless.
I got 2 GB DDR SDRAM on a 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4 running OS X 10.5.7
I've tried reinstalling the software. I'm not too savvy about what else might work.
Please help. Thank you.

In a few weeks time I'm getting my Mac Mini upgraded to 2GB memory for Snow Leopard when it comes out. My Mac Mini is a 2006 Intel Core Solo model, and in September I'll be wanting to buy Snow Leopard but I want to be 100% sure that my Mac Mini will be able to install Snow Leopard since its DVD media. I know I can't burn DVDs with this Mac Mini but, although may seem like a stupid question will I be able to install Snow Leopard with it being DVD media? I'm sure I can since the Mac Mini can "read DVDs", but I want to be certain before paying out £70 when its released in September.

Thanks.
