I tried that, quitting the relevant applications and reopening them... they appear to the left of the big space, and any new menu icons do as well. Well, there's only one serial port (with a printer icon) because the modem is built-in. The printer is plugged into that port with the 8-pin serial cable. Cheryl: I'll try your suggestion and get back to you guys.
