    Fanatical users? Try fanatical engineers!

I wasn't living with my parents; they just didn't understand what the project was about or why I was working without being paid. Ron and I each were living in rentals; our expenses were low. He drove an old car (and still today drives the same one); I lived walking distance from Apple then...

how do I join together multiple 'real media' files?

You can use the exported from within RealPlayer 10; just open a QuickTime-compatible file in RealPlayer, then choose Export from RealPlayer's File menu. The exporter does not include any feature for appending files, though, nor can it create rm files from other rm files.

how do I join together multiple 'real media' files?

There are tools for appending RealMedia files, but no easy choices. Real does have a program for simple editing and appending like this, called RealMedia Editor. But it has not been updated in several years; the last Mac version was for Mac OS 8/9, and it was part of the paid RealProducer...

    Convert RealAudio to MP3 ?

ATRAC was developed by Sony and used in their MiniDisc players. It is a high-quality, low-bandwidth audio compression format that also underlies RealAudio 8. Like any lossy compression format, overcompressing will compromise the quality, which is why some audio provided in RealAudio format may...

    realaudio/video and safari

RealOne Player for Mac OS X doesn't "take over" anything. It does not have the messaging system or the media type changing facilities of the RealOne Player for Windows. RealOne Player for Mac OS X doesn't even have an installer. Just try it; the link is at the top right of http://www.real.com/

    IE or Chimera handling .wmv?

Netscape 7 will show you the MIME type of a link supplied by the server when you click on the link. All browsers should be using the InternetConfig system-wide settings for helper app configuration, but only IE lets you easily view and edit those settings (in the File Helper and Protocol...

    IE or Chimera handling .wmv?

You need to verify that the MIME type sent by the web server with the file matches the MIME type in the file helper entry in IE, and that the rest of the settings for the file helper entry in IE are appropriate for saving the file and playing it back with WMP.

Hey well whats with RealOne --itz dead!!!

    Realplayer probs

If you are running on Mac OS X, then the free, native RealOne Player for Mac OS X is a far better bet than earlier versions. RealPlayer 8 is mostly just a whole lot of bug fixes on top of the versions before it, so for Mac OS 8 and 9 that's definitely the one to use. You need to manually...
