    Gmail file system for OSX

There've been attempts to superimpose a simple file system over the storage offered on Gmail. (notably here ). Would something like this be possible/practical for the Apple OS? Sure would be nice. (Hint hint). -Mike

    Lunar Living: 2015, 2025, 2035?

I would think sooner rather than later; certain companies are gearing up for making a real commercial venture out of space, and real industry too, not just tourism. They'll need stations on the moon to base all that stuff on; much cheaper than launching everything they'll need from the earth. I...

    Macintosh Community vs. PC Community

I'm in Maryland, and I know of 10 confirmed users. That's a lot compared to Pennsylvania. Does MD have a higher population? ;-) P.S. I have no idea how we could find out those figures for real. Maybe Apple has them...

    Tiger

Now, I didn't upgrade from Panther when Tiger first came out. I was thinking of upgrading, but my productivity is perfectly satisfactory with Panther. It sounds like you guys wouldn't suggest upgrading at this point... What do you think? I know it'll get better with time, but I'm happy.

    Amazing keyboard design

If they actually developed this, which it looks like they're gonna try, it'll be huge. Think about it; the first real advancement in computer interfaces in... what, 30, 35 years? How long has the good ol' keyboard and mouse been around? Everybody would want one of these.

    Difference between Apple and Mac

That makes sense, isn't the Newton a type of apple? Anyway; thanks for the history lesson guys!

    Mac to use Intel Chips!

Beautifully said, mindbend. Guys; I bought my Mac because the OS is the most advanced and stable one available. The chip inside just doesn't affect me that much. Obviously Steve Jobs decided that IBM just wasn't cutting it in the short term, and didn't have as far to go in the longterm in...

    Difference between Apple and Mac

I'm a relative newcomer to the Mac world, and I have yet to figure out the relationship between Apple and Mac. Mac is a sort of sub-brand, right? Or a specific line of products? For instance, the iPod isn't a Mac, but all the computers are.... right??? Any comments would be much appreciated.

Pictures of Apple WWDC 2005 building

Hardy hardy har. Be careful, if we're gonna spend the next decade with these people (Intel), we should be nice! ;-) Nice pics, by the way.

Anyway to get an answer phone message off of a mobile/cell phone onto my Mac?

I would call up your cell phone company; see if you can access the message server over the web, or if they could e-mail you the sound file. I'm assuming they record the messages to servers...

    Windows Longhorn Watered Down Again

It seems like Longhorn is not competing with Tiger. Many of the features that they're touting for Longhorn have been with us since 10.1. If they had actually lived up to the promised capabilities, it would have been a worthy opponent for Tiger. In it's current state... well, it's not.

    Very funny

Wow. That's a new low for "l33t" (i've been hearing that term a lot lately) PC users.

    Tablet Power book

My father actually bought one of these tablet PCs. He inspects homes, and he uses it as he goes around to record problems. It doesn't have the hinges thing, it's one piece, with the LCD screen on one side. It doesn't have a keyboard, unless you plug a USB one in. It seems to work well for what...

Rep Power Icons? a new addition. i'm confused by it

I agree with the removal, I'd already talked to some people who were feeling somewhat excluded... not for anything particularly bad on their part. There's really no reason for them; people who come here looking for a quick fix will pretty quickly figure out who knows what they're talking about...

    new ibook G4's!!

I would tend to agree; they just upgraded the PM line, then Tiger came out. If they announce iBook upgrades now, there may very well be a dearth of new things for quite a while, which I'm sure Apple would try to avoid.

    why macs are better

His point was that in Windows, all the options are kinda spread out. (He wasn't talking about music, movies, or the internet; read the post.) Yes, there is the Control Panel, but a lot of the options are in very obscure places. The System Preferences in the Mac OS does a very similar thing, but...

Something wierd just happened to my system

I'm not sure that counts as a crash... Certainly not on the scale of destruction that must be guarded against with Windows. It acted oddly for a bit, now it's fine.

    Similarities between Longhorn and Tiger

Looks like Microsoft is at it again. Check out this article from Cnet.com. There seem to be some odd similarities between Tiger and Microsoft's new OS, Longhorn. I wonder who copied off who? Especially when you take into consideration the fact that Microsoft is just now integrating elements that...
