Since about OS 10.2.x updates including Safari, and now running the latest OS 10.3.X with all the updates that apply, I have had loads of safari crashes and extremely slow at times (often) browser responses with corresponding slowness of response to keys, and mouse actions, and the spinning wheel "I am doing something" icon. often when force quitting Safari when this happens I get the safari (not responding) message in the force quit window. I am using Comcast cable internet with a wireless interface via Airport.

Even while filling out this form, loading nothing else, there were delays. Seems like something is running in the background hogging processor capacity.

Any suggestions. Hardware is PB G$ 1.25 15 inch PB with 1 GB RAM. No recent changes in Hardware.

NOTE ADDITIONAL INFO: Checked Activity monitor just now and it is showing Safari using around 60-75 % CPU with no apparent actual activity going on - no downloads, no dynamic flash or other stuff etc.
