Since changing my computer to a G5, Photoshop CS crashes everytime I try to save a greyscale image. So does the old version 7.0 for that matter. Colour images are fine. Any ideas?

Sounds like quite a strange conflict. In the meantime you can always use Image>Adjustments>Desaturate (shift-command-U), to make the image greyscale. If it's going out to gif/jpeg etc there won't be any difference and while it's not ideal for print, it shouldn't cause any problems. I'll look into the problem further though and see if it's a known issue; hopefully there's a fix around.

Sorry, I just noticed I misread your message slightly; does Photoshop crash when the image is in greyscale mode or when any greyscale image is in another mode such as RGB?

Photoshop CS crashes when trying to save a greyscale image. I have tried 8 bit/16 bit options, and a variety of untagged, tagged profiles and everything has the same effect.... it just crashes out immediately, with no message. Unfortunately, I only deal with images that are going to be printed so desaturation may not be an option.

I never experienced this problem at all with my old G4 machine.

Have you tried locating the photoshop preference file and moving it to a folder on yoru desktop to make photoshop create a new one? It might be your preference file is corrupt.

Also, are you using any b/w profiles in your files?

Are you saving your files to a server, external hard drive or your main hard drive?
