Presently have Mac 9.2.2 on new hard drive. Upon booting to MacX the installation will go great until it reaches the segment "Installing BSD Subsytem". When it reaches 53% complete it will stop, and say it needs to restart. Do I have a defective DVD?
Thanks
George

George,

I need a bit more information. What does the DVD say on it - upgrade? Full install or does it list a specific model? What version OS X is this?

George,

You can not install OS X for the first time using an upgrade CD. What you need is the full install OS X 10.3.

The upgrade is for users who have OS X 10.2.x already installed on the computer.

Can you start up the computer and does it start up in OS 9? If so, go to the Hard drive and look for the folder System (with an X on the folder icon), Library and Users. Drag them to the trash. Do not trash the System Folder with a Mac face on it. That is your OS 9 system .

Now you need to get the full install OS X.

You can get it here for under $50 US.
