I have a Laserwriter IInt that I would like to use with my G5 2.7ghz mac running Tiger. I purchased an Asante Ethernet to Local talk bridge.
What additional software do I need and how do I configure it? I'm new to OS X

The IINT accepts postscript Level 1, while OS X outputs Postscript Level II or higher. Install this translation driver set (both parts):
http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/pslevel1/
Then, Add the printer in Printer Setup via appletalk. Keep in mind that with changes made to appletalk, you may occassionally have to power off (unplug) the Asante and printer, then repower, in order for OS X to see the printer in appletalk.
By the way, some routers don't pass appletalk. A way to check if that's the problem is to plug ethernet from Asante directly to the Mac and ADD the printer.
Good luck.

Can I use a scsi zip drive or external mac os9 formatted hard drive to connect to the scsi port on the back of this printer. To speed up printing by storing fonts on them?
thanks

Mark,
I have never owned a LW II NTx, so I can't help you there. The first web page I found says that's what the scsi connector is for. I think a ZIP drive won't work, because it needs a driver -- but can't be sure.
(If you don't have the IINTX model, you don't have a scsi port, that's serial)
Good luck.

Is there a way for me to download fonts to this printer (as I used to from laserwriter utility in OS 9) given my current setup?
thank you

I suggest you use the same OS 9 Laserwriter utility. It runs in Classic.
