Description:
I'm a mac technician at a college in Glasgow.
For the last few months I've had a problem with a LaserWriter Pro 630. On start up it refuses to print a test page and the busy light just flashes away. I've had it at an authorized Mac dealer twice.
The first time they could not find anything and said it was working. Sure enough, it worked for a couple of days and then the problem started again. I installed a new IO board but this did'nt cure it either. I sent it back and the second time they found a small paper jam. It worked for three weeks and then the problem started again.
This time I found a small piece of paper jammed in an area under the toner cartridge and cleared it. I managed to print from it for a day, took it back to the classroom this morning and it started all over again. No test page, nothing. I tried it again with a serial cable rather than on the Apple Talk Network and no difference. I'm tearing my hair out, any ideas?

This is either a cartridge problem or a software problem. Replace the printer cartridge and try again. If that doesn't work, the printer may not be set as the default printer in the chooser or your printer drivers may need to be reinstalled. Go to the Chooser and click on your printer and close chooser. If that doesn't work, reinstall the printer drivers.
