DESCRIPTION:

I'm trying to best manage my address books. The Outlook Express email book display contains names, email addresses home phone and business phone - although under properties you can input other information about the client. Yet there seems to be no way to display this info (such as fax number). Outlook express allows you to print the address book.

Moving over to just plain Outlook, which I use as my fax utility, the address book displays more of the information inputted under properties (title, company name, etc,) yet does not include capability to include email address. Outlook does not offer the opportunity to import or export, nor does it allow you to print or edit (copy, cut or paste) to Word to print. Outlook Express allows import and export, so I exported Outlook Express email addresses to Outlook. For those contacts with both a fax number and email they appear on two lines one on top of the other. Other data inputted under properties displays on the sceen. But, again THERE IS NO WAY TO PRINT OR COPY TO PRINT!!! What was Microsoft thinking.??? From what I've described, is there a better way of commingling my databases? I also have Works 4.5 and Access, but I find little use for these applications and thus am unfamiliar with how they operate. Thanks. John.

Hi There,

Understand that really and truly the address in Outlook is for use within the e-mail system. I would strongly recommend using your Access. Look in the on line help for the predesigned address book. It is much more flexible and really can be used for all of your address uses. Once set up you'll be able to extract only those names that have e-mail addresses and export them for quick use in Outlook.

Another possibility is investing in one of the many PIM's on the market. The good ones will allow you to access them quickly and copy addresses to the "send-to" at any point. There are several good inexpensive ones.

I sincerely hope that this has helped you. Feel free to send me an e-mail at the address below if you need some follow up.

Note that I am only accessible on weekends unfortunately. If your response needs immediate attention M-W you might
want to leave it on the main board at http://www.nowonder.com
