I can't seem to get my G4 to recognize my Airport basestation any more. I preformed an Apple update install and poof there it went.

I've reinstalled the software and it still will not see the base station.

Any suggestions.

Are you trying to set it up with AirPort Setup Assistant or AirPort Admin Utility? Have you updated to AirPort 4.2? (Is that what seems to have led to the problem?) Also, have you used the Admin Utility to update the Express' firmware?

I have been trying both AirPort Setup Assistant and AirPort Admin Utility programs to assist me in set up.Neither program is able to see the network. The problem presented after I preformed an update.

The installation of an update did created this problem.

I was able to update the Express firmware via my laptop... (I think)???

Have you tried resetting the Express?:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108044

That's what I had to do last time I had trouble getting my computer to see it. In the process, I learned that AirPort Admin Utility sees the unit over Ethernet and AirPort Setup Assistant only wirelessly. I also learned to save my base station settings in a profile on my computer so I didn't have to reenter them after a factory defaults reset.

Well I have reset the express and still have the same problem.
I am trying to set up from a clean reinstall of the software and still it won't see the station. Are you suggesting that I plug in via ethernet to place the settings back on my computer?

You can only save profiles using Admin Utility, and if your computer isn't seeing the Express wirelessly, then you need to plug in by Ethernet, either to your computer directly or to a wired router to which your computer is connected.

You've tried all types of resets?

Can you see the Express in Admin Util? If so, set it up as desired and save your profile somewhere on your computer (so in the future you can use it as a preferred configuration). Apply the settings and it will restart the Express.

Now, try disconnecting Ethernet from your computer, unplug the Express from power and plug it back in, and see if you can connect with it wirelessly. If not, try using AirPort Setup Assistant. If you can connect to the Express with this, then you'll later be able to connect wirelessly with Express via Admin Util.
