thanks Philippe,
I installed Akaos VJ 2.2 and I clicked on the Arkaos VJ 2.2.1 icon after it was unstuffed and onto my mac hard drive. I'm running Mac os X Tiger 4.2.
It did work once after install then never again. It was unistalled and reinstalled several times but no success. I'm a pretty good computer user in both platforms.

Well,
in this
http://support.arkaos.net/index.php?x=&mod_id=2&id=62
found this:
----
on a Mac, you should have an "ArKaosReWireDevice" extension in your system extensions folder (Mac OS 9) or an "ArKaosReWireDevice Carbon" file in the "Library/Application Support/" (Mac OS X).
Note that the Mac OS X installer can sometimes fail to install the ReWire device in some rare cases. If this happens, you can complete the installation manually by downloading the file ArKaosReWireDevice.sit which contains the "ArKaosReWireDevice Carbon" extension that you have to place in the "/Library/Application Support" folder on your computer.
---
That's the sole thing I found about this product... I never heard about before your call
Pots back if it succeed or not

hello Philippe,
I did look for an "ArKaosReWireDevice Carbon" file in the "Library/Application Support/" (Mac OS X).
It is not there, then I tried to download it and is not available. So now what?
Dave

Dave
I went to the page I just give you above
In the Troubleshooting chapter, point 3, they speak about the .sit archive
I click on the name "blalba...sit"
The download start and I have a Arkaos folder on my desktop with the carbon extension. To be placed in the Library folder as they explained.
So, the download works for me and I have a valid file
???

Philippe,
I have tried every thing possible and still have no such luck but in further reading this new tiger package that has script editor and automater may be causing this problem and I don't know anything about using them. And yet another question arrises in that I downloaded a bunch of visualizers for itunes and am wondering if one of thos visualizers may be kicking my arkaos offline. I have tied everything to the letter and still, nada!!!
What do you think?

Dave
(1) send me (philippe99@macosx.com) a message with your valid email address; I will sent you the .sit file
(2) I have no experience at all in Automator, nor in visualizers plug-in in Itunes
So, I think you've just to have a test on the .sit file first.
regards
Philippe

Hello again,
remember that I had it once working and now no more

Dave, following your email..
So, you have downloaded the .sit and expanded it . Right ?
So do you manually move the ArKaosReWireDevice Carbon file to the "/Library/Application Support" ?
(To go to to this folder, in an opened Finder window, select your hard drive on the left pane.
Then on the right pane , double-clik on "Library", then next "Application Support")
So, you said "It is not there, then I tried..."; if you manually put the file in this Library, it must be still there. That the application does not run, it is one thing. But the extension cannot disappeared.
So with this extension in /Library/ApplicationSupport, does it work or not ?

Yes, that is the problem. It is there now but the program still does not work!!! Somehow it still directs or points to the script editor when I click to start the arkaos program. I'm going nuts with this thing.
Arkaos told me to get and upgraded program that they can support because this one is to old and they do not support it anymore. You know "the old we want more money thing"
Respectfully
Dave
ps-where are you from or in?

Philippe,
What else can I try?
Dave
philippe99 - Jul 30, 2005 - 2:08 pm
I do not know really. I suppose Arkaos team are right when they ask you to update to 3.5.
And yes 240 $ for the update, it is an amount of money.
(1) Is there no other software doing the same job as Arkaos ?
(2) Where was your 2.2 version isntalled ? on a 9.22 machine ?
If yes, you can imagine installing the 9.x classic environnement within Tiger and install your 2.2 on it
http://www.apple.com/support/tiger/classic/
(3) find an oold iMac G3 233 around 200$ for intsalling VJ 2.2..but this the amount of the upgrade !

Philippe "The MAN",
What a great idea on #2, installing 9.2 and then putting arkaos on it. I'll try that and I really think it will and should work. I just don't know how or why?

I already installed 9.1 on a friend's G3 after Panther. Then my friend updates it to 9.2.1 -> 9.2.2

I never do it on Tiger
Philippe
Tunemon - Jul 31, 2005 - 8:47 pm
Hello,
Why would't you do it on yiger?
Dave
philippe99 - Aug 1, 2005 - 3:41 am
I say "never do", but it is a translation error ..I'm native in French ;-)
I would say "I never try on Tiger, because I do not need it". All the applications and devices I use are full OS X
