In the 6 weeks I've had this computer 3 or 4 times on startup, after part of the extensions have loaded, the BOMB appears and the message …

Sorry a system error occured
illegal instruction.
To temporarily turn off extensions, restart with shift key etc.

Jack,
You are having an extension conflict. If you are using extensions manager that came with your Mac and you have created extension sets, determine which set you are in when the sytem error{bomb} dialog appears. Better yet get a copy of Casiday and Greene's "Conflict Catcher 4.1" Conflict Catcher will actually find the culprit and fix it for you so that you can resolve the conflict and keep it from occuring again.
