Does anyone know how to configure the Basic Security Module (BSM) in OS X Panther?

Hi, David - My name is Dale, and i'll try to help.
Which Basic Security Module are you asking about?
I found some references to the Sun Solaris BSM
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/806-1789
or the version for use with Linux.
Can you give a little details about what system you want to configure that for, and how you expect to use it?

Hi Dale!

I need to use the version that is installed with Mac OS X for auditing purposes. I know how to configure it under Solaris.

Thanks!

Sorry, you are drawing a blank from me. I think you will be better served if some of the Unix gurus that are around see this quest. (I am not one )

I'm going to send this back to the main pool, or you may get better results by posting at the main Forums at this site.

Hi David,

I don't think Panther is fully C2-compliant, but it does have some basic auditing functions. For starter, use Console to see all your log files. Then go to this page and download the Panther security guidelines:

http://www.nsa.gov/snac/downloads_macX.cfm

Page 53-59 is relevant to you.

Let me know if you need more information.

Charlie
