I cannot seem to burn a music CD from iTunes using Toast Lite 6. Either it tells me that I can't burn because the music is protected or it burns but only records static. I need help!

Are you able to burn directly from iTunes?
Why do you need to use Toast for that?

I used to be able to burn directly from iTunes when I had a lacie burner but then I bought a Sony DVD/CD burner so I could burn DVDs also. It came with Toast and iTunes does not see the device without it.

Maybe Patchburn will be helpful to you.

I'm not sure if patchburn will help you with the iTunes limitation for the protected songs. However, it's worth a try, as it should 'patch' your burner so it appears to be an Apple-supported burner, and therefore can burn directly from iTunes.
Let me know how it goes...
