Hi,
I have a Mac Mini, and use Leopard, OSX, 10.5.4.

I bought a book: Speak Basic Spanish In No Time by Larry C. Rios,
which has audio files online.

When I download the entire file, I got a message from
Archive Utility, that said:
Unable to unarchive. Error 1 Operation not permitted.

The download is a .zip file.
The Download Manager said, Decompression failed.

Friends have said they've downloaded the zip file on their PC's.

Procedure:
Go to www.quepublishing.com
In the upper right corner, there is a search field.
Enter the book's ISBN,
which is 0-7897-3223-8.
This takes you to the author's page.
Click on the icon of his book.
The following page has three tabs.
Click on the Download tab.
On the next page, you choose how much of the audio file that you want to download.
I've downloaded the entire file, 191.3 MB.

Opening it is another trick.

Once the audio file is opened, it asks for a password.

The answer is 2, i.e. there are two keys pictured in the table of contents. They want to make sure you have the book.

I called the author of the book, Larry C. Rios. He lives in Las Cruces, NM.
He googled: archive utility unable to unarchive, and came up with a website
[ http://discussions.apple.com/message...sageID=3854373 ]

The answer according to the discussion group was to use Stuffit.

I downloaded Stuffit Expander, but never fully understood how to use it. I poked around, but came up empty.

Earlier, I had emailed Pearson Education Customer Tech Support.
They own Que Publishing, and provide the technical support.

I had told them that the directions in the book on how to download the audio files were wrong.
Meanwhile, I had figured out how to find the audio files and download them.
About this time, Pearson Tech Support emailed me again.

They had apparently turned the audio files into a zip file, and this
is why the directions in the book were wrong.

I had also hem asked if the audio files worked on a Mac.
They said yes.

In another email, Pearson said that the problem was not a Stuffit Error.
It was a BOMAArchiveHelper (Mac OSX service) error.

They said to put the zip file on my desktop, go to Terminal and type:

[ cd~/Desktop unzipspeakbasicspanishinnotime.zip ]

The response was, "No such file or directory exists."

Pearson had a backup entry for the Terminal, if the first one failed.
They wanted me to add "-j" after the word "unzip."

So, the second typed entry into Terminal looked like this:
[ cd~/Desktop unzip -jspeakspanishinnotime.zip ]

I got the same response: "No such file or directory exists."

I had also gone to Mac Orchard,
which has two programs to unzip files for Mac,
but the programs were for CLASSIC, so that was another dead end.

Now, I am knocking on your door.

If you are typing the unzip command as you show it here, then it can't work. It needs a space after the word unzip.

Try the same command a different way:
Open your terminal, then simply type 'unzip' (without the quotes), then be sure to add one space, and then drag your zipped file to the terminal window. You should see the full name and path for the file. Now press enter, and the file should unzip.

I use a program called 'The Unarchiver' which works very reliably.

Let me know how it goes...

Hi Dale,
Thank you for your assistance.
I have opened the zip file, and put them on iTunes.

Gracias.
