Description:
I tried to upgrade to OS 8.1 and halfway thru the installation it stoped with a system error.

Hello Joseph

Here's a trick...hopefully, it will help. Bootup from the Disk Tools floppy whle having already inserted your Mac OS 8 CD, and do a clean install, replacing all your 3rd party items afterward. Alternately, unlock your Disk Tools floppy and delete, or save somewhere else, the setup program (whatever it's name is, I forget). This makes space for Apple's CD ROM extension, which you can install into the extensions folder. Then follow the previous method. Don't bother installing a new System Folder over the old one.

Please reply to this message if you have any further questions and/or comments.
