OS Version: MacOS 8.1
Description:
I'm an advanced intermediate, who has twice upgraded memory myself and have just installed, succesfully, a new hard drive. I would like to upgrade the original CD-Rom unit. I've pulled it out; it is connected to the cable pins by two adapters/connectors: one for the scsi and one for the audio out pins.
My question is: Are there specific internal cd units that will exactly fit these two adapters; or can I buy any one and then where do I find new adapters to link it to my old cables? I brought home a 12X Hi-Val unit that fit the scsi, but the audio adapter didn't fit into the audio pins opening.
Do you know if the NEC 16X will work?
Many thanks for your suggestions!!

Barry,
I've made the same discoveries as you. I think the CD-ROMs that come in Macs are specified by Apple, and that you will not find any like them. But it's not difficult, just rewire the plugs. My Toshiba came with only one ground on Audio out, as opposed to the two from Apple.
