Description:
Here we go. Recently I bought 2 westen digital udma ide hd's for my Macs, The first went ina G3 /MT with a 6 gig ide hd,ide24xcd, and idezip without a hitch.
I tried the same thing in my G3 233 MT, it came witha 4 gig ide hd on bus0 and a ide cdrom on bus1. I can't get a Western Digital 10gig udma ide drive, or Samsung 4.3 udma ide drive to be recognized on either bus as a slave drive. If I put anthing on either bus as a slave it insnt recognized by hdtools, including the apple ide 24x cdrom that came with the system .I only get drives working as masters on the ide bus. Also since Icant use my aplle IDE cdrom while I have the western digital drive installed I tried to hook up a scsi 32x toshiba scsi cdrom drive to replace apples ide 24x drive. I cant get the system to mount any cd's even though DriveSetup recognizes the cdrom drive. Please help!!!

Hi Manuel,

I hate to say this... Apple puts the additional 3rd party vendors harddrive into DIFFICULT to attach to apple products.

Okay... Since you have 2 western Digital udma ide hds,Samsung umda ide, toshiba scsi cdrom...

Why dont you buy HD/CD toolkit from FWB's HardDisk Toolkit and CDROM Toolkit. They will format and enable those 3rd party vendored harddrives into apple's style harddrive format and they shud work fine.

Apple's First AID and Drive Setup WONT work on 3rd party vendor at all...

Hope I was helpful! ;-D
