KNOWLEDGE LEVEL: Intermediate

PROBLEM: Software
COMPUTER TYPE: Intel
MODEL: Pentium II 233
RAM: 64meg
OS VERSION: Windows 95
SERVICE PACK: OSR2

DESCRIPTION:

Is there a way to check whether the Internet Information Server is running from DOS?

Pinging determines only if I have a physical connection to the IIS server but not knowing if the IIS service is active or running.

Sort of a DOS command that will dumped the Index or Default.HTM to the screen or file. (Never mind if I can read it or not from DOS.)

All I'm after is that the HTM is being sent or the IIS server is replying to the command i issued (not using a browser).

Thanks a lot.

Hi Marvin...Welcome to No Wonder.

If I understand you correctly, you may be able to use Telnet on port 80.

Here is an an example from a home page of another No Wonder volunteer (http://junior.apk.net/~qc/dok/protocol/http.html)

Hope this helps,
Pete
